Packing and Export of Mining Equipment

Stadium Export Services has organised the uplift and packing of hundreds of tonnes of equipment used on a major mining project in North Yorkshire.

Working closely with a construction services provider, Stadium coordinated the uplift of the mining equipment from two sites in North Yorkshire, initially delivering to a five-acre site in Newcastle upon Tyne. Over several weeks, Stadium carefully prepared and packed the cargo ready for export to Baltimore, USA via the Port of Liverpool.

Due to the size and weight of the equipment, heavy lift forklift trucks, along with 100 tonne mobile cranes were used to handle the cargo during the various packing and dispatch stages, much like our work with project cargo. The heaviest pieces of equipment processed were two 40 tonne boring drills which were used to construct a series of underground transportation tunnels.

Brian Smith, CEO at Stadium Export Services, commented: “There were several challenges during this project, particularly when it came to coordinating the transportation alongside a demanding packing schedule. More than sixty 40 foot trailers and a range of specialised equipment were required to transport the cargo from North Yorkshire to Tyne and Wear, and then onward to the Port of Liverpool.

“The cargo was consolidated and packed in the most cost-effective way possible, ensuring freight charges were within budget and delivery schedules were not compromised. Upon completion of the packing and documentation, the cargo was transported to the Port of Liverpool. During this phase of the project, we had to plan deliveries to align with the vessel sailing dates, and loading windows of just 4-5 days.
